Overtime, I’ve heard some men I know complain about their wives and I begin to wonder why. One day, I summoned courage to ask one of them why they always complain even when their wives are doing their best to run the home well. He opened up and told me that truly he appreciated his wife but there was something that she was not doing right. He said that when they were newly married, his wife gave him attention and time and was still able to attend to other domestic activities but after they started having children, things changed. He said she no longer had time for him neither did she give him attention. She focused only on the children and other domestic duties and shoved him aside.

Wives, please have this in mind; marriage is between you and your husband not you and your children. It’s just a matter of time, those children will leave someday because just like the Bible said “a man will leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife and the two shall become one”. So when these children leave what happens next? You’ll be left with that spouse that you’re failing to give attention now. I’m not saying that you should neglect your children. They are gifts from God and you have to nurture them, cater for their needs but in doing that, also create time for your husband. Befriend him, talk with him, you can offer to take him out, cuddle him, listen to him so that you both will not become strangers by the time the children leave the house someday. Focus on bringing out the king in your husband, focus on making your spouse a better version of themselves. Don’t lose sight of your purpose and God’s mandate for the both of you. Help and support each other. Pray together; do not underestimate the power of prayer. Give to each other; give love, give money, blessings, attention, time and so on. Please do not neglect the needs of each other.

Care for your children, attend to other things but also create time for your spouse. God bless you.
